The population of the counties surrounding London increased by 10 per cent as a result of internal migration, while the North West increased by just 2 per cent an the North East by just 3 per cent. Here in Madrid, where property prices are similar to London�s, I pay 350 euros a year in council tax, 7 euros for 10 journeys on the clean and efficient underground system(any distance), 25 euros a year for a resident�sparking permit. The rubbish is collected every single night! The streets, parks and gardens are well-maintained. Friends wonder why I am still haven't found that someone special and are encouraging me to get proactive…so here I am.
