NOW WE'VE GOT DENTISTS IN TENTS - UK Express They will be offering their services at a third of the cost of treatment available to patients in the UK, where well over a million people now have no access to an NHS dentist because of health reforms introduced by Labour. To heap added ridicule on the failing National Health Service, the tents will be equipped with state-of-the-art X-ray equipment not available in this country. The Government should hang their heads in shameTaxPayers Alliance Patients will be able to choose from a range of procedures including implants, dentures, crowns, bridges, veneers, fillings and tooth whitening. It is estimated that up to 40,000 Britons a year already go abroad for dental treatment, and the Conservatives said this latest move made a mockery of Labours policy. Shadow Health Minister Mike Penning said: This is a reflection of the Governments failed dental contract, which has curtailed access to NHS dentists for well over one million people. The Government should hang their heads in shame. The scheme starts in Lincoln tomorrow before taking in Glasgow, London, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Stockport. The Department of Healths chief dental officer Barry Cockcroft said: We are investing an extra 200million in NHS dentistry this year. New NHS dental practices are opening all the time to provide more NHS services around the country. Critics who claimed there will be a mass exodus of NHS dentists under the new contract are being proved wrong. The only problem was that his dentistry was worse than the 1940's. He ended up pulling my tooth out with no anaesthetic working. I will be very happy to have it done in a tent if the dentist was au fait with modern treatments which don''t hurt!• Posted by: TESSNASH • Report CommentTo view all 'Have Your Say' comments, click this button...
