UKLGIG :: View topic - naturalisation for bulgarian partner
As Bulgaria is an EU nation they do not need indefinite leave to remain to be classed as settled instead they need to be exercising their EU treaty rights (living and working in the UK) for a period of five years. For most people that is the usual way to establish that they are free from immigration control, but not in your partner's case._________________-- Mark. I think the "immigration office" has got the two things mixed up. Responses on this forum should not be considered a substitute for expert legal advice. So there is any need to waste money on ILR.Does he specifically want UK Citizenship, or did he think that was the only way to get some particular set of rights?_________________-- Mark. This will start when Bulgaria joined the EU (1st January 2007)."surely he does not need to be exercising his treaty rights as he is my partner otherwise whats the point of the three year option.
