Bulgaria sits in what’s historically been called the Balkans but it has remained untouched from all the recent Balkan troubles (in Bosnia, Serbia and Kosovo).It shares borders to the south with Greece and Turkey, to the east by the Black Sea and to the North the Danube. EU citizens can enter Bulgaria on a free 30-day tourist visa obtained on arrival. The main roads are acceptable but the minor ones can be in poor condition.
