Every year about 20 groups of 20 people each visit Bulgaria to observe birds. In autumn two of the largest birds' migration routes in Europe pass via Bulgaria. In Sakar Mountains the extremely rare Royal Eagle can be spotted. Many tourists want only to sit in lounges and watch the flocks with binoculars, Yankov added. One of the attractions is the Black Vulture, which in Europe is only to be seen on the Balkans and the Pyrenees. One of the packages includes birds' observation round the whole country for two weeks. The autumn tours' prices range from 835 to 890 pounds. The price of 950 pounds includes a charter flight, accommodation, meals and a guide. The same is the price for observing birds for 10 days in the winter along the Black Sea coast. This is extremely few, as only 1% of the potential of the country in this sphere is used, Yankov stated. To him, Bulgaria has the unique potential to develop the so-called ornithology tourism offering the opportunity to observe more than 200 bird species of the total 600 existing in Europe. To his mind, 'the birds tourism' might enhance the summer season at the seaside.
